How does sliding glass door replacement work?

ViniCon comes to your Hallandale property, measures the broken or fogged panel on-site, and walks you through the right glass spec - single-pane, double-pane low-E, laminated impact, hurricane-rated, tinted, or obscure. We order the exact panel, then return to remove the damaged glass and install the new unit with fresh glazing and weather seal. Most jobs run $385 to $1,450 total depending on size and spec. Call (786) 979-1199 for a same-day measure.

When sliding glass has to be replaced

Six conditions where glass replacement is the only real fix - none of them get better with time.

Glass is cracked or shattered

Impact from a chair, ball, hurricane debris, or thermal stress. Once a slider is cracked it's a safety hazard and a security gap - the panel has to come out.

Fog or moisture is trapped between panes

The factory seal on your double-pane unit has failed. There is no field repair for a blown insulated glass unit - the whole panel must be replaced.

Glass has scratches you can't polish out

Deep scratches from sand, salt, or pet claws catch light and ruin the view. Surface polishing only works on shallow marks; deep gouges mean a new pane.

Glass has a chip or pit (security risk)

A chip in tempered glass is a stress riser - it can spider-web with the next temperature swing. We replace before it shatters in your living room.

Low-E coating has bubbled or peeled

The metallic Low-E layer between panes is failing. Once it bubbles or shows iridescent patches, the energy efficiency is gone and the panel needs to be swapped.

You upgraded the home and the old single-pane needs to go

New AC, new floors, new everything - and the old single-pane slider is leaking energy and noise. Upgrade to double-pane low-E or impact for the resale boost.

Every glass job ships with these eight steps

From the first measure to the final install. No skipping, no shortcuts, no upsell halfway through.

  1. On-site measurement

Vinko measures the actual opening - width, height, glass thickness, frame depth - so the new panel fits without forcing or shimming.

  2. Glass spec consultation

Single-pane, double-pane low-E, laminated impact, or hurricane-rated double-pane. We walk you through the right spec for your home, your view, and your budget.

  3. Order placement

We place the order with our local glass fabricator, lock the price, and give you a firm install date. You don't pay for the glass until it arrives at our shop.

  4. Removal of damaged glass

Cracked, shattered, or fogged panel removed safely - no glass shards on your floor, no scratched frame, no damaged interior trim.

  5. Frame inspection

Frame channel checked for corrosion, twist, or rot before the new glass goes in. If we find damage we stop and quote it before continuing.

  6. New glass install with new glazing

Fresh setting blocks, fresh glazing tape, fresh structural sealant where required. New glass should outlast the old install by years.

  7. Weather seal replacement

The fin seal and bulb seal around the panel get replaced at the same time. No point installing new glass behind a worn-out seal that leaks air and water.

  8. Written warranty

You walk away with a paper warranty covering the glass unit (manufacturer) and the installation labor (ViniCon). Documented with photos if requested.

Single pane, double pane, or impact?

Single-pane is the cheapest swap and right for older homes where the rest of the slider is also single-pane. Quick install, lowest energy efficiency.

Double-pane low-E is the South Florida default for non-impact zones - two panes with a metallic coating that blocks heat. Energy bills drop noticeably and your AC stops fighting the sun.

Laminated impact and hurricane-rated double-pane are required in High-Velocity Hurricane Zone properties (most coastal Hallandale and Hollywood) and strongly recommended for any oceanfront or near-water home. Impact glass costs more upfront but pays back in insurance savings and storm peace of mind.

Foggy double-pane? The factory seal between the two panes has failed. There is no field fix - the whole panel must be replaced.

Glass replacement, straight answers

The questions Hallandale and Hollywood homeowners ask before they call. If yours isn't here, ask Vinko on the phone.

Sliding glass door replacement in Hallandale typically runs $385 to $550 for a single-pane residential panel, $550 to $850 for double-pane low-E, and $750 to $1,450 for laminated or hurricane-rated impact glass. ViniCon measures on-site, gives a firm written quote, and never charges a separate diagnostic fee.
Fog or moisture trapped between two panes means the factory seal has failed. There is no field repair for a blown insulated glass unit (IGU) - the panel has to be replaced. ViniCon measures on-site and orders a new sealed double-pane unit, typically $550 to $850 installed.
Most stock specs (clear single-pane, standard double-pane low-E) arrive in 5 to 10 business days. Laminated impact and hurricane-rated double-pane are usually 2 to 3 weeks because they're built to order. Tinted or obscure glass adds a few days. Vinko gives a firm timeline at the on-site measure.
Yes. ViniCon replaces impact-rated panels for PGT, CGI, ES Windows, Eastern, and Cardinal sliders. We match the original spec so the installation preserves the hurricane rating and stays code-compliant in Broward and Miami-Dade.
Yes. Same-day boarding is $125 plus the cost of the eventual glass. Vinko removes the broken pane safely, secures the opening with weather-resistant board, and schedules the new glass install once the panel arrives. Call (786) 979-1199 - we run boarding 24/7.
Almost always just the glass. A glass-only swap runs $385 to $1,450. A full sliding door replacement is $1,200 to $3,800 per door. Unless the frame is rotted, the rollers and tracks are also shot, or you're upgrading from old single-pane to a hurricane impact system, glass replacement is the cost-effective fix.
Yes. Every repair is backed by a parts-and-labor warranty, and we use commercial-grade components built for South Florida's salt air and heat. If something we serviced fails, we make it right.
No. We come out, diagnose the problem, and give you a firm written quote on-site at no charge. You only pay once you approve the work, with no surprise fees.
All of them, including PGT, CGI, ES Windows, Andersen, and the builder-grade aluminum doors found across South Florida. We match brand-specific hardware where needed and stock universal parts for everything else.
